Female art collective YOUNITY is excited to present its first commemorative show, Crossover: Fusion of Female Stylez, Ideaz and Skillz, on November 16, 2007
at The Showroom NYC from 6-9pm.
The Crossover represents an international population of women who use unique art forms such as graffiti and mixed mediums to reflect upon others' life experiences as well as their own. This highly anticipated event will feature an eclectic mixture of work by painters, photographers, designers and craftswomen from all walks of life. Celebrated feature artists include Lady Pink, Martha Cooper, Swoon, Toofly, Alice Mizrachi, Queen Andrea, Faith 47, Shiro, Amanda Lopez, Mama, and M.I.S.S Crew amongst others. After the opening reception, all art will be on view (by appointment) in the gallery until December 5, 2007.
Founders AM and Toofly created YOUNITY as an international network collective of female visual artists, designers, photographers and craftswomen who support each other by collaborating on projects, building networks for resources, and creating community awareness with the help of mentoring young people. YOUNITY is an international social contagion that bridges all talents with collaborative art shows promoting women. YOUNITY's youth team will also be part of the opening reception as they document the opening night and also assist in the installation/preparation of the exhibit. Crossover is an event that is sure to propel the female street art movement into the eyes and hearts of the masses.

About AM: Alice Mizrachi is better known in the art world as AM. Her work deals with the struggles of urban life and the order/chaos dynamic inherent in major cities. Growing up in New York in the 1980's, AM was influenced by the hip-hop cultures. She studied Parsons in New York City and Rietveld Academy in The Netherlands. AM has showed at highly respected galleries including the Powerhouse Gallery in Brooklyn, Colette in Paris and Lab 101 in LA. She also creates commissioned work for newspapers and magazines, in addition to street murals. She has also cultivated her interests in functional art by designing skateboards, clothing and accessories.

About Toofly: Inspired by the calligraphy and illustration skills of talented graffiti writers of the 1990's, Toofly aspired to pave the way for female street artists of the future. Today, she has painted alongside some of New York's most acclaimed graffiti artists while being featured in respected publications and books about art. A School of Visual Arts alumnus, Toofly has lent her unique female characters to various print and public art projects. Most recently, she has created her own artist line of t-shirts, bags, and designer toys bearing her signature character. Toofly continues to paint, inspire, and empower women with her works.

About The Showroom NYC: Owned by the proprietor of Toy Tokyo and located at 117 2nd Avenue (at 7th Street) in Manhattan's East Village, The Showroom NYC is a legendary gallery dedicated to showcasing the works of both established and fledgling artists. Most of the artists who exhibit at Showroom NYC are involved in or inspired by street art, urban culture and designer toys.
